Find CCDC Release Records

To find someone released from Cherokee County Detention Center, first identify the exact booking and learn how CCDC ended its custody. A release may mean the person went back to the community, but it may also record a transfer to state, federal, tribal, immigration, or another county authority. Cherokee County Detention Center release verification therefore depends on the jail register, the court order, and any receiving agency record. The facility has a local governance structure that changes where requests should go. Its official release record belongs with the detention-center trust, not with the sheriff by default.

Cherokee County Detention Releases

Cherokee County Detention Center, often shortened to CCDC, is the county’s operational jail. A person may leave on bond, recognizance, dismissal, time served, completion of a county sentence, or another court order. Those outcomes can return the person to the community. A felony commitment, outside warrant, federal writ, tribal matter, or immigration hold can instead send the person to another custodian.

The CCDC jail-register entry should show when the local custody episode ended and the recorded manner of discharge. If the entry says transfer, ask for the receiving authority or destination as recorded. A missing name on a roster does not settle that point. Match the discharge entry to the Cherokee County court case and, when needed, the next agency’s record.

Confirm a CCDC Release

Begin with the full name and enough data to isolate one booking. A birth date, booking number, arrest date, or court case is far safer than a name alone. Repeat bookings can give one person several valid release dates, and each belongs to a different custody episode.

  1. Open the official CCDC page and use only contacts or links endorsed there.
  2. Ask the detention-center trust for the existing jail-register and booking/discharge entry for the named episode.
  3. Request the discharge date, time if kept, manner, release authority, and receiving agency if the event was a transfer.
  4. Check the filed case through OSCN or ODCR, then obtain the order from the Cherokee County Court Clerk when exact terms matter.
  5. If CCDC transferred the person, confirm arrival or later status with the named agency.
Important: A person can leave CCDC and remain confined. “Released from CCDC” describes the end of county-jail custody, not every possible custody status.

The broader Cherokee County released inmate search and records path separates county, state, tribal, and federal systems when the destination is not clear.

CCDC Release Record Fields

Oklahoma’s 51 O.S. § 24A.8 addresses jail-register information if an agency keeps it. The listed content includes a person’s name, date and cause of commitment, committing authority, description, and the date or manner of discharge or escape. That language supports a request for the local exit. It does not guarantee access to every internal note, medical item, security record, video, or custom report.

PersonName, date of birth, booking number, and descriptors needed to avoid a false match.
CommitmentBooking date and time, cause or charge, and arresting or committing authority.
DischargeDate, time when kept, and the local manner or reason code.
AuthorityCourt order, bond, sentence completion, transfer, or other recorded basis.
DestinationCommunity or the receiving agency when CCDC sent the person elsewhere.
PhotoThe booking image only if kept and found disclosable by the custodian.

Ask staff for a code legend when a label is unclear. “Bond” does not mean dismissal. “Time served” does not mean every case or supervision term ended. “Transfer” needs a destination before it can answer whether the person returned home.

Request CCDC Discharge Records

The county open-records form is a useful written vehicle, but the County Clerk is not automatically the custodian of CCDC operational records. Address the request to CCDC or the trust’s current records custodian. If the recipient lacks custody, ask for the right office or a forward. The official detention-center page did not publish a verified fee schedule, response deadline, or complete records contact during the research review.

A narrow request should seek inspection or an electronic copy of existing jail-register and booking/discharge fields for a full name, birth date or booking number, and approximate booking date. Ask for date and manner of discharge, transfer destination if recorded, release authority, and the booking photograph if kept and disclosable. State that no medical, juvenile, sealed, or security-sensitive material is sought. Request an estimate before fees arise.

Note: The absence of a published fee or response time is a documented source gap, not a reason to estimate either one.

CCDC Trust Release Governance

CCDC’s structure is the most important local fact. The county calls it a trust under a County Jail Board. The sheriff sits on the oversight board but does not have day-to-day supervisory responsibility for the jail. That arrangement means the office that made an arrest may not hold the operational booking or discharge entry.

Use the sheriff for sheriff-created arrest, transport, service, or investigation records. Use CCDC for the jail register and its physical exit. Use the court for the order or judgment. Splitting those functions may require more than one request, but it also prevents an office from being treated as custodian of a record it never made.

Q: Why did the sheriff send a caller elsewhere? CCDC is not the sheriff’s jail. The sheriff may correctly route a jail-register request to the separate trust even when a deputy made the arrest or transport.

CCDC Release Jurisdiction Check

Tahlequah is the Cherokee Nation’s governmental center. County, city, tribal, state, and federal actors can each create a record connected with one person. Identify who arrested, which court filed the case, whether CCDC accepted the booking, and which agency received the person next. A municipal police report may establish a citation release or transport. It does not replace the CCDC register if jail booking occurred.

Cherokee Nation is a distinct sovereign. The Marshal Service form found in the research is labeled for Cherokee Nation or law-enforcement use and says released records are for official business. It must not be offered as a general public request form. If a tribal matter led to CCDC or another jail, determine the actual receiving facility and controlling court before selecting a records law.

The historic Cherokee National Prison in Tahlequah is now a museum. It is not CCDC and cannot confirm a modern release. Search results from Cherokee Counties in Alabama, Georgia, Kansas, South Carolina, or Texas are also unrelated. Confirm Oklahoma, Tahlequah, the official domain, and the facility name.

CCDC ICE Release Transfers

An ICE detainer can make the word release incomplete. ICE explains that a detainer requests notice before release and up to an additional period of custody so DHS can assume custody. If CCDC records a transfer to ICE, the person left county-jail custody but did not necessarily return to the community.

No source in the research established that CCDC has a current ICE detention contract or that any named booking includes such a detainer. Use the immigration path only when an actual hold, transfer field, court source, or counsel makes it relevant. Search the ICE locator and use official ICE contacts if a recent arrival does not appear. Do not convert a negative result into proof of release.

CCDC Recent Release Feed

As of July 31, 2026, the official Cherokee County pages did not expose a verified CCDC 24-hour or 72-hour release feed. No published window, fields, update cadence, retention rule, booking-photo display, or official release app could be confirmed. A current detainee roster must not be substituted for a released-person list.

The absence is useful. It makes the jail-register request the main local route, not a last resort. For a single person, ask about one booking. For an existing list within a period, state the exact date range and acknowledge that the agency need not create a new report. Check the official CCDC page again because interfaces can change.

VINELink may help with a specific participating record, but it is a notification layer fed by a custodian. Record the source agency, exact status words, and update time. If the notice reports release, compare it with CCDC’s discharge manner and the court order. A silent search may reflect spelling, lag, participation, a transfer, or a record outside the service. It cannot replace direct contact with the trust when the physical exit matters.

Likewise, an ODOC lookup is useful only after state reception or supervision. A person who posted bond, completed a local term, or never entered the state corrections system may have no ODOC entry. If ODOC does show an institution, the record can explain why the person left CCDC while remaining confined.

Verified as of July 31, 2026. Confirm dynamic custody facts with CCDC and any recorded receiving agency.
